Words from Dan Hoy

“I have been taking Reformer Pilates classes for eight weeks now, and the results have been incredible. During my fourth week, a knot in my lower back that had been tight for years finally loosened up. Since then, my back has continued to improve and feel better every week. I’m so grateful for the progress!”

Words from Nancy Bundgus

“Reformer Pilates has been a game changer to my fitness routine. As soon as Wembley opened this class, I was all in. The benefits for me personally have been outstanding. I have always had tight hip flexors and SI joint issues the improvement in my hip flexors, along with feeling stronger, more flexible, and better balance overall, the benefits are amazing.

The instructors make every class challenging they are knowledgeable, encouraging, and always make sure we are getting what we came to class for. As you can see, I love reformer Pilates the added benefits is that it has given me many more years of wearing my high heels 🙂“

Words from Dave & Lisa S.

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Total Time:  ~ 65 minutes

Serving: 6

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil

1 large yellow onion, finely chopped

2 medium carrots, peeled, finely chopped

1 celery rib, finely chopped

1 tsp. dried oregano

Kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

3 garlic cloves, finely chopped

4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

6 cups low-sodium chicken broth

3 thyme sprigs

Dumplings & Assembly

1 1/2 cups (180 g.) all-purpose flour

1 Tbsp. baking powder

1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt

1 large egg

2/3 cup buttermilk

2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted

1 cup heavy cream

Finely chopped fresh parsley, for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Heat oil in a large Dutch oven or heavy pot over medium heat. Add the onion, carrots, and celery, stirring occasionally for about 7 minutes or until softened. Stir in the oregano and season with salt and pepper. Add the garlic and cook for another minute, stirring until fragrant.

Step 2: Add the chicken, broth, and thyme to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is fully cooked. Remove the chicken and shred it using two forks. Keep the soup simmering while preparing the shredded chicken.

Step 3 (Dumplings & Assembly): In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Create a well in the center and add the egg, buttermilk, and butter. Mix gently with a fork until all ingredients are combined.

Step 4: Stir the shredded chicken and cream into the soup and bring to a gentle simmer. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling mixture into the pot, then cover and cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, or until the dumplings are fully cooked.

Step 5: Top the soup with some parsley and enjoy!

Wellness Tips

Make the Most of Daylight

As the days grow shorter, try to spend at least 15–20 minutes outdoors during daylight hours. Natural light can help regulate your sleep cycle, improve your mood, and support your energy levels throughout the colder months.

Practice Mindful Eating

With the holiday season approaching, take time to slow down and enjoy your meals. Focus on balanced portions, listen to your hunger cues, and savor seasonal favorites. Mindful eating can support digestion and help you feel more satisfied.

The Light Within: A Diwali Reflection – Vishali Gupta

Diwali is the Indian Festival of Lights that is celebrated in October or November. It is a time when small oil lamps called diyas illuminate homes and hearts, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. The symbolism of light offers an opportunity to pause and reflect on the light that exists within each of us: the light of awareness, inner peace, and tranquility. It is ever-present and lasting, even when the mind is restless or life feels uncertain.

To experience the radiance within, take a moment to sit comfortably or lie down and gently close your eyes. Notice your natural breath without trying to change it. With each exhalation, allow the body to soften and the mind to settle. Notice how your thoughts come and go, without any judgment, like clouds passing through an open sky. Now, imagine a small, steady flame glowing within your spiritual heart. With each breath, allow its gentle light to fill you with warmth, peace, and tranquility. Rest in this quiet presence, without feeling the need to change anything or go anywhere.

The flame within continues to shine, independent of the circumstances around us. At times, the winds of restlessness may cause the flame to waver, similar to how our minds become unsettled by thoughts and emotions. Yet, when we pause and turn inward, we can reconnect with this energy and allow its gentle light to illuminate our path.

As we celebrate Diwali, may we remember this light within. The light of awareness, peace, and tranquility that is eternal and always with us.

May this light guide us towards greater understanding, compassion, and harmony.

Happy Diwali
