Member Spotlight – Meet the Blazey Family

Tell us all about yourself!

Family: Matt, Holli, Maddie, and Boston Terrier; Mabel

“My good friend Jennifer Thorne joined the club and has invited me as a guest to Open Pickle. From my first visit, I found the group to be fun, welcoming, and incredibly supportive. I enjoyed the atmosphere so much that I kept coming back and eventually decided to join.”

Why did your family decide to join Wembley?

“One of the things I love most about the club is its culture. Shortly after joining, I was invited to play in a tournament, and I honestly had the best time. Everyone was encouraging and made me feel like part of the community right away.

Since joining, I’ve also taken advantage of the gym and fitness classes, which have been fantastic. The combination of great facilities, engaging activities, and wonderful people has made this club a place I truly enjoy being a part of.”

Staff Spotlight – Max McNeal

Pickleball Instructor & South Fayette Operations Manager

FUN FACT(S)

If you haven’t seen or met him, Max would most likely be found on the courts “pickling” away! He prefers warm weather over the cold any day (probably like most of us in Ohio). He enjoys being outdoors and spending time on the lake.

Max just graduated from Miami University of Ohio and is currently a pickleball instructor at The Wembley Club. He will be joining the South Fayette team as their Operations Manager in the near future, so be sure to get a hit session in with him before he takes off!

Summer Bowtie Pasta & Chicken Sausage Skillet

Ingredients

Kosher salt

8 oz. farfalle

1 (24-oz.) jar marinara sauce

3 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, divided

3/4 lb. cooked chicken sausage (any flavor)

2 medium zucchini (about 1 lb.), sliced into 1/4“-thick rounds

1 medium red bell pepper, seeded, chopped

1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 (5-oz.) package baby spinach (about 5 packed c.)

1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, torn, plus more for serving

3 cups shredded mozzarella (about 12 oz.), divided

First: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Boil salted water and cook pasta 2–3 minutes less than package directions. Drain, return to pot, and toss with marinara.

Second: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high. Cook sausage until browned, about 3 minutes; add to pasta.

Third: In the same skillet, heat remaining 2 tbsp oil. Cook zucchini, bell pepper, black pepper, and salt until crisp-tender, about 3 minutes.

Fourth: Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in spinach until wilted, about 2 minutes. Add vegetables and basil to pasta; toss to combine.

Fifth: Layer half the pasta mixture into a skillet, top with 1½ cups mozzarella. Add remaining pasta, then remaining mozzarella.

Sixth: Bake for 14–16 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Lastly: Cool for 5 minutes, garnish with basil, and serve.

Wellness Tips – Summer is Here

Take time to breathe

It’s not just the way of life, breathing in and out. If done correctly, you can actually increase serotonin, lower blood pressure, pulse rate, and stress levels.

Stay Hydrated

Temperatures are rising and it’s time to think about your body’s health and well-being. Staying hydrated is such an important factor when it comes to summer heat.

Summer is in session!

This summer, make well-being a priority by practicing easy daily practices that benefit both your body and mind. Staying active, staying hydrated, eating nutritious foods, and setting aside time for recovery can all contribute to a better, more balanced season. Whether it’s a morning workout, an evening walk, or simply taking time to relax, making little choices throughout the day can have a long-term impact on your overall health.

Movement, mindfulness, recuperation, hydration, quality sleep, and meaningful social connection are all summer health skills that can help you feel your best all season long.

Take advantage of the longer days to reset routines, develop healthy habits, and prioritize personal well-being during the summer.
